Will County, IL : Two men killed in Homer Glen head-on crash early Saturday, April 9, 2016

A high-speed car chase between two friends turned deadly when one of them struck a third car head-on early Saturday in southwest suburban Homer Glen.

About 5 a.m., a 2002 Ford Mustang and a 1997 Honda Coupe were following each other eastbound on 151st Street near Cedar Road, according to the Will County sheriff’s office.

The driver of the Mustang, a 20-year-old Lockport man, and the driver of the Coupe, 20-year-old Sameh Atiq, knew each other and were both driving more than 70 mph, according to the sheriff’s office.

Atiq entered the oncoming lane of traffic in an attempt to pass his friend and struck a 2008 Chrysler head-on, according to the sheriff’s office. Atiq, of Lockport, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chrysler, identified as 32-year-old Noah Kask of Homer Glen, was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, where he died at 5:49 a.m., authorities said.

The 20-year-old driver of the Mustang was also taken to Silver Cross Hospital.

No charges or citations had been filed as of Monday morning. The Will County sheriff’s office is investigating.
