A 48-year-old Palm Bay man was arrested after a hit-and-run crash Friday night in Melbourne, police said

Douglas Anthony Gibson was charged with leaving the scene of a crash after allegedly hitting a pedestrian, who was trying to cross the road around 7:30 p.m. at U.S. Route 1 and Sarno Road.

Gibson stopped momentarily but then drove away, according to the Melbourne Police Department.

The pedestrian, whose name was not released, was listed as stable after being treated.
