Hixson, TN : Driver seriously injured in crash on Middle Valley Road on Monday, April 18, 2016

A man was seriously injured in a single-car accident today on Middle Valley Road, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

At about 3:30 p.m., a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser was headed northbound on Middle Valley Road when it left the roadway on the left side of the road and flipped several times.

The unrestrained driver, Michael Smith, 29, of Hixson, was partially ejected and partially entrapped under the vehicle when it came to rest.

The driver was taken to a local hospital in critical condition from injuries sustained in the traffic crash.

Traffic investigators are investigating the cause of the accident.
