Sioux City, IA : Two people injured in head-on crash on Morningside Ave. on Friday, April 15, 2016

Two people were taken to local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries Friday after a head-on collision on Morningside Avenue.

Emergency responders arrived at the intersection of Nicollete Street and Morningside Avenue at about 11:40 a.m.

Sioux City police Officer Chad Sheehan said a vehicle had been traveling westbound on Morningside Avenue when it crossed the center line and collided with an eastbound vehicle.

One driver was taken to the hospital by ambulance, and the other by an acquaintance of the driver, Sheehan said.

It is unknown why the car crossed the center line, Sheehan said.

The accident is still under investigation. Names of the injured were not released.

Traffic was blocked for a time as crews cleaned up the debris.
