Newton, NC : One person dead and another injured in multiple vehicles crash on Highway 321 Wednesday September 23 2015.
One person is dead and another was airlifted from a Newton crash Wednesday night.
Around 5:45 p.m. Newton police responded to a crash involving multiple vehicles at the intersection of Highway 321 and West 15th in Newton.
According to police, a car was driving south on Highway 321 when a pickup truck was traveling north and turned left onto West 15th Street. The two vehicles collided head-on in the intersection. The car was pushed up an embankment into the parking lot of Mike's Wholesale Cars and stopped when it hit a vehicle parked on the lot for sale.
The spare tire from the truck reportedly got knocked loose in the crash and hit the hood and windshield of another vehicle. The driver and passenger of that vehicle were not injured.
The driver of the car, later identified as 18-year-old Corey Dylan Good from Hickory, was pronounced dead on scene.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to Catawba Valley Medical Center, then flown to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries. He is expected to be released from the hospital today.
