Okarche, OK : One teen killed and two others injured following a truck accident in Kingfisher County on Sunday night, February 8, 2015
A Piedmont teen was killed and two others injured in a pair of incidents Sunday night near Okarche.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol did not name the 17-year-old boy who died in the accident, which happened at 8:42 p.m. Sunday six miles east and two miles north of Okarche in Kingfisher County.
According to an OHP report, the boy was driving a 1995 Chevrolet pickup south on a county road when he lost control, left the road to the left and rolled three times before coming to rest in a pasture. He was ejected 220 feet from the point of rest.
A passenger, Colton Lane Ray, 18, of Piedmont, was taken to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he was admitted in stable condition with head and trunk injuries, according to the report.
Neither was wearing a seat belt, according to the report, which listed “unsafe speed for type of roadway” as the cause of the accident.
Two minutes earlier, according to OHP, another boy in the pickup, this one 15 years old from Edmond, was injured when he attempted to climb from the passenger seat into the bed of the pickup. He fell out of the vehicle onto the road as the pickup continued south. The boy, who was not named in the report, was taken to OU Medical Center and admitted in stable condition with head and trunk injuries.
