Palm Harbor, FL : Alachua County man dies in motorcycle crash on U.S. 19 early Saturday morning, May 7, 2016

A 42-year-old Alachua County man died in a crash early Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Michael McManis, of Micanopy, had been riding a Honda motorcycle about 3:20 a.m. on U.S. 19, near the Colonial Boulevard intersection.

He failed to slow, FHP investigators said, and hit the back of a Ford F-150.

The motorcycle flipped, and McManis was hit by two other cars on U.S. 19. One passenger sustained minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital.

McManis died at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, FHP investigators said.
