MARTINSBURG, WV : Berkeley County man charged after police seize cash, gun, marijuana after vehicle crash on Saturday, 7th September 2019

A Berkeley County man was charged Saturday after police seized more than $2,400 in cash, marijuana, vapor cartridges containing mostly THC and a handgun after the man’s vehicle crashed into a utility pole in Berkeley County.

Dustin Lee Ferrell, 21, of Cashew Lane in Gerrardstown, W.Va., was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, driving under the influence and driving while suspended, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court records.

West Virginia State Police Troopers B.E. Hott and P.B. Butler responded Saturday at about 3:20 p.m. to investigate the crash in the 3700 block of Tabler Station Road, court records said.

Police determined that Farrell was eastbound on Tabler Station Road when the 2006 Ford pickup that he was driving went off the south side of the road and struck a utility pole, which fell to the ground with power lines that blocked the roadway near the truck, court records said.

Hott wrote in a complaint that the defendant failed three field sobriety tests and admitted at the crash scene that he smoked marijuana about three hours earlier, records said.

In addition to $2,480 in cash and a bag of suspected marijuana that was found in his pants, police found three bags of suspected marijuana, three vapor cartridges containing about 81% THC, ammunition and a Taurus handgun, records said.
