SOMERSET, MA : 1 dead in crash on Route 195 in Somerset on Friday, 23rd November 2018

A Somerset man was declared dead at Charlton Memorial Hospital following a crash on Route 195 eastbound Friday afternoon.

The 66-year-old man was in front of his 1996 Dodge Ram pickup around 12:15 p.m. after it broke down in the acceleration lane from Route 103 eastbound coming onto I-195, the Massachusetts State Police said.

A 60-year-old Swansea woman drove her Honda Accord into the disabled truck from behind, which then struck the man who had the hood opened as he checked on the vehicle, the police said. The truck was pushed into a ditch on the right side of the road while the Accord came to a stop in the right and middle travel lanes.

Both were taken to the hospital where the man was pronounced dead. Officials did not release his name pending notification of next of kin.
