A female was killed in a multi-vehicle crash near Piru, authorities said.
The crash occurred at 4:07 p.m. on Highway 126 near Sharp Ranch, about two miles west of the Ventura and Los Angeles County line, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The victim was driving a Mercedes Benz westbound on Highway 126 at an unknown rate of speed when for unknown reasons she lost control of her vehicle and it spun into the eastbound lanes, according to the CHP.
That set off a chain of collision involving four other vehicles in both lanes of traffic, the patrol reported.
The female driver of the Mercedes was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of two other vehicles were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries via American Medical Response ambulances, authorities said.
The identity of the driver has not been released, authorities said.
There was no indication on Monday night that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, however, the rainy weather likely contributed to the incident, the patrol reported.
The Ventura County Fire Department responded to help the injured and also assisted with traffic control. Deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff's Office also contributed in directing traffic, authorities said.
