Phoenix, AZ : Wrong-way driver died in a Head-on into a Greyhound bus on I-10 near Sarival early Friday morning, November 25, 2016

A woman was killed after troopers said she drove the wrong way on Interstate 10 and crashed head-on into a Greyhound bus early Friday morning.

Thirteen of the 39 passengers on board the bus were injured and rushed to two area hospitals, DPS spokesman Quentin Mehr said in an update.

The driver of the car is identified as Sarah Castillo-Cornejo, 24, of Peoria.

Mehr says impairment is suspected.

A gofundme account has been set up for the mother of two children.

It happened just before 2:30 a.m. on eastbound I-10 near Sarival, just east of the Loop 303.

Mehr said troopers began getting reports of a vehicle heading the wrong way westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-10.

A viewer contacted our TV stations to report he saw the vehicle involved in the collision.

"We did not see the accident but called in to report seeing the white car speeding in the wrong direction in the HOV lane," Jordan Cortez said.

DPS said there is video of the crash. There was a camera on board the bus. The camera flew out a window upon impact.

The bus driver maintained control of her vehicle in efforts to protect all the passengers. The bus did not roll but came to rest after leaving 1,400 feet of skid marks.

“What you have to consider is even if the wrong-way driver is traveling at 65 mph and the Greyhound bus is traveling at 65 mph that head-on impact is massive and results in some unbelievable damage as you’ve seen from the vehicle that the individual lost her life in,” DPS Capt. Tim Mason said.

Not much was left of the car. Photos showed it was heavily smashed up.

Rescue crews broke out windows to rescue the passengers.

The bus driver was en route to Phoenix from San Bernardino, CA,

It was the third wrong-way crash in a 24-hour period on Valley interstates.

“This is becoming an epidemic obviously and it’s an issue we’re trying to resolve," Mason said.

Greyhound representative Lanesha Gipson says another bus took uninjured passengers to Phoenix to finish or continue their travel.

Eastbound I-10 at Sarival was closed for hours. The roadway reopened just after 10:15 a.m.
