New Philadelphia,OH : A Sandy Valley High School student was killed in a single-car crash on Thursday, July 6, 2017
A Sandy Valley High School student was killed in a single-car crash Thursday morning in Carroll County, according to the school district.
William “Chipper” Grogg, who was entering his junior year at Sandy Valley, was a passenger in the car, said Sandy Valley Superintendent David Fischer.
The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. on State Route 171, near the county line, said Carroll County Coroner Dr. Mandal Haas.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Department did not immediately return calls seeking information about the crash.
Fischer said counselors and pastors will be available at noon Friday in the high school library for any students, parents or community members who need to talk with someone.
“We’re gonna miss him,” Fischer said. “Whether you saw him out there wrestling ... or as No. 35 on the football field, he’s going to be missed.”
