Burgaw, NC : One person dead after a head on collision involving two cars on Highway 117 in Pender County on Tuesday night, December 22, 2015

At least one person is dead after a head on collision involving two cars in Pender County Tuesday night.

One car caught fire as a result of the wreck and the person was successfully pulled from the wreckage and is being transported to the hospital.

Two passengers in the other vehicle were trapped; one died as a result and the other was transported to the hospital.

Traffic is being rerouted on Highway 117 near the Pender and New Hanover County line in the Castle Hayne area.

Crews from New Hanover County are assisting Pender County emergency crews.

The Highway Patrol is also on the scene.
