BARRINGTON, RI : Five teens injured in Barrington crash on Friday 28th October 2016
A 17-year-old Barrington girl is charged with drunk driving after a crash that injured her and four teenage boys late Friday night.
Sgt. Kevin Igoe said police and firefighters were called just before 11:30 p.m. about a vehicle that crashed near Sowams Road, an area with a "bad curve" that saw another crash there earlier this year.
Firefighters had to use extrication tools to free the girl and her passengers from the vehicle, and all five were taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital. The extent of their injuries wasn't immediately known.
The girl is being charged with driving under the influence and refusing a chemical test for alcohol, Igoe said Saturday. Her identity is withheld because she is a juvenile. The other passengers were not identified, but are also 17 years old and from Barrington, the police sergeant said.
The crash remained under investigation Saturday.
