DUNKLIN COUNTY, MO : 3 injured in head-on crash; 1 driver charged with DWI on Sunday, 4th August 2024

Three people were seriously injured in a head-on crash in Dunklin County, Missouri on Sunday night, August 4.

The crash happened around 9:10 p.m. on Route NN, approximately 3 miles north of Gobbler.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 57-year-old Cornelius J. Van Der Westhuizen, of Gobbler, was driving northbound when his pickup truck crossed the center line and hit a car head-on.

The driver of the car, 43-year-old Holly M. Thornton, of Tuscumbia, Alabama, and her passenger, a 17-year-old girl, also from Tuscumbia, Ala., were seriously injured in the crash.
