Haskell County, OK : Haskell County collision causes fatality, injures Quinton resident on Thursday, June 26, 2014
A single-vehicle collision in Haskell County on Thursday resulted in the death of a Kinta man and critically injured a Quinton resident. Joel Ary, 53, of Kinta, died at the scene, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Jesse Mahan, 57, of Quinton, was transported by medical helicopter to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where he was admitted in critical condition with internal injuries, the highway patrol said.
The accident occurred at 9:34 a.m. Thursday on State Highway 2, two miles south of Whitefield, according to the highway patrol. Mahan was driving south in a 2008 Honda, with Ary a passenger in the car, when the vehicle went off the roadway to the right, overcorrected, then departed the roadway to the left, striking an embankment and a tree, the highway patrol said.
OHP troopers with the Haskell/McIntosh County detachment of OHP Troop C investigated the accident.
