Fort Lauderdale,FL : Davie man arrested in crash that killed girlfriend on August, Thursday 31th 2017
Nearly five months after allegedly losing control of a car that rolled multiple times and fatally threw his girlfriend, a Davie man has been arrested.
Edgar Reyes, 45, turned himself in Thursday morning at the Broward County Courthouse in downtown Fort Lauderdale. He faces four DUI-related felony charges, including manslaughter.
The crash happened at 3:40 a.m. April 8, said Sgt. Marke Leone, a spokesman for the Davie Police Department.
Martha Hernandez Rondon, 45, a Hollywood mother of two teen sons, died at the scene near State Road 7 and Interstate 595, Leone said.
“On the night of the incident [Reyes] gave officers a different [date of birth] and used the name Edgar Rivera-Reyes,” Leone said. “Reyes stopped communicating with his attorney shortly after making arrangements to turn himself in.”
Police on Friday issued a bulletin with Reyes’ picture saying they were attempting to locate him.
“Reyes does not have a driver’s license and is not a U.S. citizen, making him a flight risk,” the bulletin said.
Reyes now is being held in the Broward Main Jail.
