Huron, NY : Sodus Man Dead in Wayne County Crash on Thursday afternoon, November 27, 2014
A man was tragically killed in a crash on Thanksgiving Day.
Police tell us a 25-year-old man was killed in a crash in Wolcott. The crash happened on Route 104 near Lasher Road. We're told the victim is David Youngman of Sodus.
Lieutenant Mark Fleming said, "Both vehicles were traveling at full speed for this highway. The combined speeds of the vehicles cause quite an impact."
You can clearly see the force of that impact, the speed limit for this stretch of 104 is 55 miles per hour. New York State Police say 25-year-old David Youngman was driving east when he lost control of his Ford Focus.
Lt. Fleming says, "Spun around into the west bound lane and was struck by the west bound pickup truck."
Youngman was rushed from the scene as first responders performed CPR. But he was pronounced dead at the hospital just two days before his 26th birthday. The driver and passenger in the pickup truck were treated for minor injuries.
Lt. Fleming says, "We hope that everyone can be safe traveling especially on a holiday we certainly feel bad for the family of the victim, it is a tragedy."
State police are working to reconstruct the accident, hoping to learn why Youngman lost control of his car. They believe this is just a tragic accident. Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol played a factor.
