Ithaca, N.Y : Man seriously injured after crash in Ulysses Wednesday, November 2, 2016
A man crossing Jacksonville Road on Wednesday in Ulysses was seriously injured after being struck by a car.
At about 8 p.m. Wednesday, deputies from the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office responded to the 3400 block of Jacksonville Road in Ulysses for a report of a crash.
After an investigation, deputies learned that a man operating a Nissan Frontier was traveling south on Jacksonville Road crashed into a guide wire, mailbox and ditch. The driver exited the car wearing dark, non-reflective clothing and tried to cross the road. While the man was in the lane of traffic, he was struck by a Ford Focus traveling north.
The male pedestrian was airlifted to a nearby trauma center with potentially life-threatening injuries, the sheriff's office said.
The identities of people involved are being withheld until family is notified. The investigation is ongoing.
