Pembroke Pines, FL : One person injured after a car crashed into a house in Pembroke Pines on Thursday afternoon, February 5, 2015

A South Florida driver was transported to the hospital after, authorities said, he crashed into a home in Pembroke Pines, Thursday afternoon.

SkyForceHD flew over the scene where the car, believed to be a Toyota Camry, drove through the front porch and careened into the residence, making it all the way inside the living room.

Resident Ana Maria Hernandez, who was out at the time of the accident, said her home is now uninhabitable. "I don't know where I have to stay tonight, you know, and all these days," she told 7News.

Hernandez said she had been living at that residence for the past eight months at the home, which is located at 8571 Johnson St. and sits at a T-shaped intersection with Northwest 86th Avenue.

Authorities said the sedan crashed through concrete walls and destroyed everything in its path, possibly by shooting northbound on 86th Avenue and crossing Johnson Street. With the vehicle winding up completely inside the house, officials believe the driver may have been traveling at a high rate of speed and ran a stop sign in front of the house before coming to a stop inside the living room.

Hernandez's next-door neighbor said she did not see the crash but did hear it once the vehicle entered the home. "I heard a big boom, and then when I came out, and the other witness came running across, he said, 'Did you see that the car went through the house?'" said Stacey.

"It was loud enough that everybody in my household came out to see what happened," said area resident Stephanie Mager.

It was at that point that Stacey saw the driver. "I went over and saw the guy getting out of the car. I ran back to my house to get the phone and call 911 and then I went back," she said, "and there were two witnesses holding him down because he was trying to get away."

Police have not been able to confirm that the driver attempted to flee, and the witnesses did not remain on the scene.

The driver, who appeared to be an adult male, most likely in his 30s, was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

A notice has since been placed on the home's garage door, deeming the structure unsafe and uninhabitable. The front of the house was later boarded up. "It is so horrible, to see the house like this," said Hernandez.

Hernandez said she almost came home right before the time of the accident but changed her mind and headed to the mall at the last minute. "The living room, dining room, the kitchen, everything is really a mess," she said, adding she would have probably been dead if she had been home and on the driver's path.

Hernandez lives at the residence with the homeowner, who was too shaken to address reporters. "It was a hard accident for her, and she couldn't believe it. She got very nervous," said a friend of the homeowner through a translator. "The house is destroyed on the inside."

Aside from the driver, no one was injured. Authorities are trying to determine what charges he might be facing.
