Roseburg,OR : Woman, 34, dies in I-5 accident north of Roseburg on February, Sunday 11th 2018
A 34-year-old woman died early Sunday when the driver of a 2008 Chrysler minivan drove into the back of a tractor-trailer rig in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 about two miles north of Roseburg, Oregon State Police said.
Jennifer Cruz, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at a hospital from injuries sustained in the crash, police said.
The accident occurred about 3:30 a.m. when Brandy Haga, 29, of Sutherlin, the driver of the minivan, reportedly failed to see the tractor-trailer, which was in the slow lane in front of her, police said.
The truck’s driver, 43-year-old Kerry Kippes of Roseburg, was not injured.
Cruz was one of three passengers in Haga’s car. The other two passengers, Sutherlin residents Desiree Urena and Amanda Castro, were treated at a hospital for unknown injuries, police said. The extent of Haga’s injuries was not known.
No criminal charges are expected, police said.
