Kilgore, TX : Overton man killed in wreck on 42 Friday on Friday, January, 5th 2018
A 21-year-old Overton man was killed on Hwy. 42 Friday morning when his vehicle reportedly left the roadway, crashed into a tree and caught fire.
According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Zachary Hunter Reynolds was traveling southbound about 7:30 a.m. when his 2005 Saturn L32 ran off the road, to the left, about 1.6 miles south of New London.
According to the agency’s media liaison, Staff Sgt. Jean Dark, troopers were dispatched to the one-vehicle fatal crash just north of County Road 4152 in Rusk County and found the car had caught fire after it struck the tree on the eastern side of Hwy. 42.
Reynolds was pronounced dead at the scene by Rusk County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Jerdy Wolverton. Reynolds’ body was taken to Crawford Crim Funeral Home in Henderson, his identity released later Friday morning after family members were notified of the tragic wreck.
“The crash investigation is ongoing,” Dark reported, “and as information is received and verified it will be released.”
