WOODBRIDGE, VA : Crash leaves 1 person dead, traffic backed up for miles on I-95 on Wednesday, 6th December 2023

Police are investigating after a crash on Interstate 95 in Prince William County left one person dead and backed up traffic for miles during the Wednesday morning commute.

All lanes have since reopened.

Around 9:35 a.m., Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT)'s Northern Virginia division stated on X, formerly known as Twitter, that a crash has resulted in all lanes on northbound I-95 blocked just north of Opitz Boulevard (Route 642). By 11 a.m., delays stretched approximately six miles, according to traffic officials.
