Huntsville, TX : Driver rescued in Tuesday rollover accident on Tuesday, February 14th 2017
Emergency responders saved the life of a woman who was trapped in her car following a traffic accident in New Waverly on Tuesday afternoon.
Members of the New Waverly Volunteer Fire Department and Walker County Emergency Medical Services were called to a one-vehicle accident that left the only occupant trapped behind the wheel of her car. Her vehicle left the roadway on Highway 150 near a series of curves just east of Podraza Drive, approximately one mile east of town.
Two engine companies and the new ambulance stationed in New Waverly responded with a total of nine firefighters and two Walker County EMS personnel. Working together, the crews were able to use hydraulic rescue tools to extricate the victim from her vehicle in less than five minutes and move her to the ambulance.
The driver was treated and stabilized on scene, then transported to Conroe Regional Medical Center where she is expected to make a full recovery.
Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety will be conducting the investigation into the cause of the accident.
