Colorado Springs, Colorado
Lanes of a busy roadway were closed and an apartment’s residents were displaced for the night after a crash in northeast Colorado Springs Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Colorado Springs Fire Department, just after 4:10 p.m. crews were on scene at North Union and East Woodman to respond to a multi-vehicle crash. At that time, multiple lanes of northbound Union and the right turn lane from Union onto Woodmen were closed.
In an update, fire officials shared that one vehicle hit an apartment building in the area, and that one of the units of that building would be uninhabitable for the night. Officials said a gas meter was also hit, and as of this article’s last update, crews were still working to repair that.
Officials on scene told 11 News crews that the crash involved two cars and started as an argument between the two drivers. Crews said both cars were speeding when one swerved to avoid traffic, hit the other and then ended up hitting the building.
