Las Cruces, N.M : 71-year-old woman killed in crash Saturday, December 17, 2016
Las Cruces Police are investigating a crash Saturday evening crash that claimed the life of a 71-year-old Las Cruces woman.
Police have not yet released the name of the woman who was killed in the crash, or a 10-year-old boy who was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries,
Police were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at the corner of South Main Street and Amador Avenue shortly after 7:30 p.m. Saturday. A woman in a Chrysler Fifth Avenue was critically injured in the crash and transported to University Medical Center of El Paso. She died as the result of her injuries.
The 10-year-old occupant of the Ford Expedition, also involved, was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries, according to a police press statement Sunday. The driver and other occupants were treated at the scene and released.
Traffic investigators learned that the Chrysler Fifth Avenue was traveling southbound on South Main Street and the Ford Expedition was traveling west on Amador Avenue when the crash occurred. Distracted driving may have played a role in the crash.
The Las Cruces Police Department is still investigating the crash.
