Charlotte, NC : 15-year-old girl died, 2 high school students injured after a wreck in west Charlotte on Tuesday morning, March 1, 2016

Three of the people involved in a deadly wreck in west Charlotte Tuesday morning, including the 15-year-old girl who died, were identified as students at West Mecklenburg High School.

According to police, 15-year-old Heaven Seay died in the crash that occurred around 9:13 a.m. along the 10600 block of Windy Grove Road. Eighteen-year-old Gerado Gillen and 17-year-old Esmerelda Hermosillo were seriously injured in the crash. All three were passengers in the vehicle.

It is unknown if the driver, whose identity has not been released, was a student of a Charlotte Mecklenburg School.

According to police, the 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse was reportedly speeding when the driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed into oncoming traffic, drove off the road and crashed into a tree

The 10600 block of Windy Grove Road was shut down in both directions for a short time while the investigation was underway.
