Mount Blanchard, OH : Forest woman dies, 5 injured in a two-vehicle collision in Hancock County on Tuesday, June 28, 2016
A Forest woman was killed and five others were injured in a two-vehicle collision at 7:37 a.m. Tuesday at a rural intersection east of Mount Blanchard.
Jennifer L. Leightey, 35, of Forest, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
Leightey was driving a 2007 Jeep Commander west on Hancock County 4 when she was struck by a 2016 Toyota Tundra driven by Charles C. McVey, 37, of Mount Blanchard, who was northbound on Hancock County 157, the sheriff’s office said. McVey failed to yield at the intersection, according to the sheriff’s office.
One of Leightey’s passengers, an 8-year-old girl, was transported via LifeFlight medical helicopter to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. Leightey’s other passengers, a 1-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy, were taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital by Hanco Ambulance, according to the sheriff’s office.
McVey and his 12-year-old female passenger were also taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital by Hanco, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office did not release the names of the juveniles involved in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation, according to the sheriff’s office. The Delaware Township Fire Department assisted at the accident scene.
