Victoria, TX : Bloomington ISD school bus involved in 2-vehicle wreck on Wednesday, February 22, 2017

A Bloomington school bus carrying 17 elementary students was involved in a two-vehicle accident at 7:28 a.m. Wednesday at Farm-to-Market Road 616 and Serene Drive.

None of the students were injured or needed to be transported to a hospital, said Superintendent Delores Warnell.

A Nissan Altima was traveling northeast on FM 616 and the school bus was in front of the car, said Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Ruben San Miguel.

Javon Neville, 26, was smoking when he looked down to flick the ash off his cigarette and was unable to avoid hitting the back of the bus, San Miguel said.

Neville was cited for failure to control speed and driving while license was invalid, he said.

The driver of the bus was John White, 76.

The bus sustained a dent in the bumper on the back of the bus, Warnell said.

"I am happy it was a minor accident and that none of the students were injured," she said.
