Suwannee County, FL : One person dead, one injured in two-vehicle crash on County Road 252 in Suwannee County on Wednesday afternoon, March 25, 2015
A Lake City man was killed and a Lake Butler woman critically injured Wednesday afternoon when the cars they were driving in opposite directions collided on County Road 252 in Suwannee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said Elizabeth Will, 35, of Lake Butler was driving a 2005 Saturn Vue eastbound on CR 252 about a tenth of a mile east of 83rd Road at around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday when Will traveled partially off the south side of the highway. Will overcorrected and traveled across both lanes of CR 252. FHP said.
Meantime, William Potts, 50, of Lake City, driving westbound in a 2011 Honda CRV, attempted to avoid a collision with the Vue by steering the CRV off the north side of the road. However, the vehicles did collide and both overturned.
Potts died in the accident; Will was transported via helicopter to UF Health Shands Hospital, where FHP said she was in critical condition.
The accident blocked traffic on CR 252 for about four hours.
