Vancouver truck driver dies in Johnson Creek crash

A commercial truck that crashed through a guardrail and into Johnson Creek on Monday afternoon has been fished out of the water.
Firefighters said the truck's driver, 50-year-old Jon Pierce Wright of Vancouver, died in the crash.
The crash happened at 110th Avenue just south of Foster Road in Southeast Portland, according to Portland Fire and Rescue spokesman Rich Chatman.
Portland Police Sgt. Pete Simpson said Wright was driving the truck down a steep roadway on 112th Avenue when he could not slow down as he approached Foster Road. The truck went through a guardrail near the bridge over Johnson Creek and crashed down the embankment, disconnecting the attached tank and killing Wright.
The truck weighed approximately 60,000 pounds, Simpson said.
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team searched for additional victims who may have been hit by the truck. Crews were concerned when they found a pair of dress shoes that appeared to be out of place, but they did not find any other victims.
A crane company lifted the truck out of the creek, which took several hours overnight.
