Sacramento, CA: 2 women sent to the hospital following crash on the H-1 on Friday, December 16th 2016

Two women are recovering tonight after a crash on the H-1 Freeway this morning.

Emergency Medical Services says around 10:15, one of the women tried to take the Middle Street exit when she hit the median and the other woman's vehicle. Both were taken to the hospital in serious condition.

EMS says both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

Police shut down the freeway while officers and emergency crews were on the scene.

The road reopened before noon.
