ELK CITY, OK : 10-year-old boy died in ATV wreck in western Oklahoma on Saturday night july 19th 2014

Authorities say a 10-year-old boy has died after an all-terrain vehicle accident in western Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the wreck occurred Saturday night on private property in Beckham County. Authorities say the boy was driving an ATV in a pasture when he lost control and was thrown from the vehicle, which rolled on top of him.

Authorities say the boy was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators believe the accident was caused by driving at an unsafe speed. Authorities say the boy was not wearing a helmet at the time of the wreck.
