Columbus ,OH : Woman dies after car crashes into COTA bus stop on Tuesday ,August 11th 2015

Police say a crash that killed a woman in a bus shelter happened as two cars were trying to pull over for a fire truck.

According to police, the crash happened around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday on E. Broad St. at the intersection of James Road.

Investigators say the vehicles involved were a 2007 Lincoln Town car driven by 18-year-old Nermeen Murib of Grove City and a 2001 Land Rover driven by 18-year-old Owen Wilson of Bexley, both traveling east on Broad Street.

A Columbus fire engine approached the intersection with lights and siren active while responding to a crash near the intersection of E. Broad St. and Ashburton Road.

Police say when Murib and Wilson tried to pull over for the fire truck, they collided, sending the town car into a COTA bus shelter.

A woman inside the shelter was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not yet positively identified the victim. It took hours before the body was carried away by the Franklin County Coroner.

One lane of East Broad Street remains closed as of 11 p.m. Tuesday.
