Orlando, FL : Witness chases hit-and-run driver after fatal crash on April, Monday 10th 2017
A Wwitness to a car crash chased a driver accused of fatally injuring a motorcyclist, then fleeing, a Florida Highway Patrol spokesman said.
The driver, 21-year-old Stephanie Cruz Rodriguez of Kissimmee, was arrested. The motorcyclist, 25-year-old Christopher Morgan, died of his injuries at Osceola Regional Medical Center, Trooper Steven Montiero said.
Cruz Rodriguez and Morgan were going opposite ways on Buena Ventura Boulevad — Morgan riding north and Cruz Rodriguez south with three passengers, two of them children.
Cruz Rodriguez got to the intersection with Watts Lane and tried to take a left, Montiero said. Both had a solid green light.
Cruz Rodriguez turned into Morgan’s path, Montiero said, and his Yamaha motorcycle hit the back of her Toyota. Morgan was knocked onto the ground.
Witnesses later told troopers they saw Cruz Rodriguez get out of the car with a passenger, walk up to Morgan, then go back to the Toyota and drive away.
One of the witnesses chased the Toyota and told them to go back to the scene of the crash, Montiero said. The witness was not identified.
