Omaha,NE : Six deadly crashes in less than 24 hours on June, Sunday 11th 2017
It is not hard to find tears mixed with laughter when remembering someone who meant the world to you.
“It’s so awesome to see everybody out here supporting him,” Anthony Henry said.
The friends of 22-year-old Greg Polinski met in Millard Monday night. They celebrated his life just 24 hours after it ended.
Polinski died when he lost control of his car near 72nd & Cedardale Sunday afternoon. It flipped, and he was ejected.
“He really impacted all of our lives in a special way,” Kailie Hoffmann said. “I’m really happy to have met him.”
It is a similar pain felt by the families and friends of five others killed in crashes this weekend. Susan Booth with the National Safety Council, Nebraska said crashes tend to rise in the summer months.
“It’s very difficult,” Booth said. “It’s hard when you hear those because we know so many of those are fatalities that could be avoided.”
Two of the weekend crashes involved people who did not wear seatbelts. In another, police said a motorcyclist ran a red light. He crashed into a couple on another motorcycle. They had the right of way.
