Albuquerque,NM : Felony murder charges dropped in fatal crash on April, Monday 9th 2018
An Albuquerque judge has dismissed first-degree felony murder charges against Elexus Groves in a January 2017 crash that left a mother and daughter dead. Instead, jurors at her upcoming trial will consider whether the evidence in her case supports a second-degree murder conviction.
The decision comes in response to a request by Groves’ attorney, who argued that the first-degree felony murder charges were inappropriate in her case.
Groves, 23, and Paul Garcia are accused of stealing a van, fleeing a police traffic stop and slamming into Shaunna Arredondo-Boling’s vehicle, killing her and her 14-year-old daughter, Shaylee Boling.
