Arcadia woman dies in one-car crash

An Arcadia woman was killed early Monday in a one-vehicle accident, the Florida Highway Patrol said.According to FHP Lt. Chris Miller, Christina Maria Garza, 34, was a passenger in a Jeep SRT heading south on Interstate 75 a mile south of U.S. 301 at about 3:45 a.m. when the vehicle left the roadway, plowing through two fences, some trees and a signpost before coming to rest on its side.The driver, Hector Gomez, and another passenger, Michelle Mendoza, also of Arcadia, were transported to Blake Medical Center. Garza was pronounced dead at the scene, Miller said.Charges are pending the results of the FHP’s investigation, Miller said.
