Fort Pierce, FL : 13-year-old boy seriosly injured in school bus crash on Friday morning, September 5, 2014

Authorities say a 13-year-old boy was seriously injured in a central Florida school bus crash. Fort Pierce police say the St. Lucie County school bus was carrying seven students to Dan McCarty Middle School Friday morning when 94-year-old Frances McNees crashed into it at an intersection. Officials say the boy was airlifted to a West Palm Beach hospital. He was suffering from a head injury. Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers reports that a 13-year-old girl on the bus and McNees reportedly sustained minor injuries. A witness told police McNees initially stopped at a stop sign but then drove through and hit the bus. McNees was cited with failing to yield to the right of way.
