Chico, CA : A motorist suffer major injuries in a three-car crash on June, Thursday 15th 2017
A motorist suffer major injuries Thursday afternoon in a three-car crash that snarled traffic on Highway 32 east of Chico.
The crash happened on the highway near Humboldt Road about 4:35 p.m., said Sgt. Mark Ortiz of the California Highway Patrol.
Ortiz said a westbound Subaru SUV had slowed to make a left turn toward Humboldt Road when it was struck from behind by a tan Saturn sedan.
The Saturn then spun into the oncoming eastbound lane, where it was struck by an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado.
The driver and sole occupant of the Saturn — only identified at the scene as a man — suffered major injuries and was taken to Enloe Medical Center, Ortiz said.
The sergeant said the driver of the Saturn had approached the Subaru too fast and tried to swerve to avoid a crash but struck the back the Subaru instead.
No other major injuries were reported.
There were no immediate signs that alcohol or drugs were involved in the collision.
Traffic was down to one lane for a period as emergency personnel from multiple agencies worked at the scene.
