Cocoa Beach, FL : Cocoa Beach investigates deadly motorcycle crash in the 3300 block of N. Atlantic Ave on Sunday, 25th August 2019

A 49-year-old motorcyclist was killed Sunday after Cocoa Beach police say he collided with a vehicle near a church.

The deadly crash happened about 11:51 a.m. in the 3300 block of N. Atlantic Ave., not far from the entrance of First United Methodist Church, police reported. Police identified the motorcyclist as Bernard Gillebaard of Melbourne. Traffic in the area was blocked for several hours. Police said Gillebaard was traveling southbound on N. Atlantic when he crashed into a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta driven by 70-year-old Judith Orr of Connecticut. Police said Orr was making a left turn from the northbound lanes toward the church when Gillebaard's 2018 Suzuki motorcycle slammed into her passenger side.
