MABTON, WA : A two-car crash on State Route 241 north of Mabton on Friday, August 25, 2017

A Sunnyside woman and a Mabton man were injured early Friday afternoon in a two-car crash on State Route 241 north of Mabton.

Rafael Sanchez, 75, was headed south around 12:30 p.m. when he slowed his 2000 Nissan Altima and was struck from behind by a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Alejandra Morfin-Ixtas, 22, according to a release from the Washington State Patrol.

Troopers say the drivers were wearing seat belts. Both were taken to Sunnyside Community Hospital. An update on their conditions was not available.

The State Patrol said it expected to cite Morfin-Ixtas for following too close.
