Greene County, TN : Daniel Gross, 21, died in a fatal crash on Highway 107 in Greene County on Tuesday night, January 27, 2015

Tennessee Highway Patrol said a fatal crash happened on Highway 107 in Greene County just after 10:30 Monday night.

A preliminary Tennessee Highway Patrol crash report revealed that a Greene County Sheriff's Office deputy was in pursuit of a car on Highway 107, when the car veered off the right side of the road, hit a ditch and flipped.

THP said the passenger, Daniel Gross, 21, was thrown from the vehicle and died.

The report said Gross was not wearing a seatbelt, but the driver, Jason Mistele, 22, was wearing his seatbelt.

News Channel 11 contacted the Greene County Sheriff's Office and THP for more information about what prompted the chase, but were directed to the District Attorney's Office.

District Attorney Dan Armstrong said it was still too early to comment.

Armstrong said the Mistele is not facing any charges.

The THP report indicates that alcohol may have been a factor.
