Columbus, OH : Two injured in U.S. 42 crash on Tuesday 23rd October 2018
Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers are investigating an injury crash that happened at 12:30 p.m. that sent two drivers to a hospital in critical condition.
According to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a gray 2006 Ford Fusion, driven by Justin Michael Vanhoesen, 24, of Delaware, was going south on U.S. 42. A blue 2007 Freightliner semi, driven by Robert J. Clay, 42, of Stoutsville, was going north on U.S. 42.
The Ford traveled left of center, hitting the semi head on.
Both drivers were taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital in serious condition. Troopers suspect Vanhoesen was driving impaired. Seatbelts were in use by both drivers.
U.S. 42 was shut down for about three hours during the investigation and clearing of the scene.
The crash is still being investigated.
Other agencies that responded were Jerome Township Fire and EMS, Concord Township Fire and EMS, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
