Bethpage, TN : Young woman and her father killed in a crash on Highway 31 in Sumner County on Friday night, March 25, 2016

A young woman and her father were killed in a crash Friday night in Sumner County. The Sumner County Sheriff says it happened on Highway 31 near North Williams Road just before nine o'clock. Sarah Peery and her Father, Michael Peery, were heading into town when a truck trying to pass several vehicles came into their lane. She swerved, then over corrected, and ended up plowing into a second truck coming the other way. The impact was so great, that that truck rolled over into the ditch and burst into flames.

The driver of second truck, Cody Simmons, was able to crawl out of the wreck. He was taken to the hospital with a broken ankle. Sarah and her father died at the scene.

Sumner County Sheriff, Sonny Weatherford said, "It's very tragic for this to happen on the weekend, like I said, on Friday, good Friday. We're still investigating this. We did find the vehicle we we're looking for. No charges have been filed at this point. We're still investigating this.”

The Sheriff said that possible charges could come Monday or Tuesday of next week. They're are asking anyone who may have been a witness or knows anything about the wreck to come forward.
