HENRICO COUNTY, VA : Williamsburg woman, infant dies in crash in the northbound lanes of I-295 at the 25 mile marker on Sunday, 6th September, 2020

State Police are investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that left a woman and infant dead on Sunday.

According to officials, around 5:24 p.m. State Police responded to a the crash in the northbound lanes of I-295 at the 25 mile marker.

Police say 31-year-old Erica K. Dixon, of Williamsburg, was driving a 2008 Acura TL traveling north on I-295 when it ran off the left side of the road, crossed the median into oncoming traffic and struck a 2013 Honda CR-V.

Dixon was pronounced dead at the scene and police say she was wearing a seatbelt.

An infant passenger was taken to VCU Medical Center where he later died. Police say he was in a child safety seat.

No further details have been released and police are still investigating.
