The driver of the car, Joseph Terrence Labelle of Detroit Lakes, suffered non-life threatening injuries. The state patrol reports Labelle passed a vehicle that had stopped to turn left into Heartland Tire. He drove his 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix head-on into an oncoming semi-truck driven by Chandon Montreal Rozier or St. Paul. Rozier was not injured in the crash. Both men were wearing seat belts. Labelle was extricated from the car and transported from the scene by ambulance. Dispatchers indicated that a helicopter could not respond due to the heavy snowfall.
Heavy snow at times throughout Monday created difficult driving. Several accidents and vehicles off the road were reported during the morning commute. Sgt/ Jesse Grabow with the Minnesota State Patrol sais troopers responded to 10 crashes in the area, with two involving injuries. They also gave assistance to 25 vehicles that left the roadway.
