Reading, PA : Motorcyclist killed in Route 61 crash on Friday September 23 2016
A 39-year-old Mohnton man was killed Friday when his motorcycle crashed into a tractor-trailer on Route 61 in Perry Township, state police said.
Bryan L. Adams was driving north on Route 61 at 8:48 a.m. when he collided with a tractor-trailer driven by Richard D. Fessler, 64, of Tremont Township, Schuylkill County.
Adams was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.
The road was closed in both directions for about five hours while state police conducted an investigation.
According to state police at Hamburg:
Adams was driving north on Route 61 when he collided with Fessler, who was turning into Glen-Gery Brick from the southbound lane of Route 61.
Witnesses told police that Adams was driving at a high rate of speed.
Adams was wearing a helmet. Fessler was wearing his seat belt.
Shoemakersville Fire Department, Schuylkill Valley EMS, and the Berks County coroner's office were on the scene.
Southbound traffic was diverted to Route 662.
Power lines were knocked down by a diverted vehicle on Shoemakersville Road, fire police said.
