Teenager dies in wreck
A rural Parsons teenager died Tuesday night in a one-vehicle accident southeast of Parsons.
The accident occurred at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday on 23000 Road less than half of a mile west of Rooks Road, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Labette County Sheriff’s Department.
The KHP, which investigated the accident, said that Henry J. Bussinger, 15, of rural Parsons was eastbound on 23000 Road, a paved road. His 1997 Honda Civic left the road, entered the south ditch and rolled into a field, ending up on its top.
Bussinger, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries, the KHP said. First responders found the youth lying next to the vehicle.
The teenager, a sophomore honor roll student at Labette County High School who was active in FFA and baseball, was pronounced dead at the scene.
