CLINTON, MS : Clinton boy dies in off-roading accident on Saturday, 13th July 2019

A Clinton boy died this weekend in a rollover accident on private property, Jackson County Sheriff's officials reported Saturday.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office identified the victim Sunday as Gavin J. Milder, son of Ben and Jenny Milder of rural Clinton. Gavin was a student at Clinton Middle School.

Jackson County sheriff's deputies and Preston emergency personnel responded to an accident call from a rural Bellevue address west of Green Island about 4:45 p.m. Saturday, officials said. A large number of all-terrain vehicles, trucks and sport utility vehicles modified for off-roading were gathered at the18-acre property which, according to Jackson County real estate records, is owned by George and Cynthia Schlecht.

A 15-year-old boy from Bryant was driving an older Chevrolet Suburban customized for off-roading when the vehicle rolled over twice and came to rest on its passenger side, the sheriff's report said. Gavin Milder was thrown from the third-row, rear-facing seat and was pinned underneath the vehicle.

Milder was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County medical examiner, the sheriff's office said. The driver of the vehicle and two other passengers were uninjured.
